When will i see my Abs??

I get asked by a lot of gym users how long will it take to see my Abs!

Heck, I use to ask my self that question a lot when i was younger.

They seem to be the Holy Grail in the Fitness industry that everyone is chasing!

Well your in luck because in this Blog, I'm going to show you two steps you can take immediately to get yourself on track to achieving them chiselled abs you're after.

Step1: Diet & Fat loss

I bet you've heard someone say this before "we've all got abs there just under our belly fat" well this is correct to an extent.

We do all have Abs underneath our belly fat otherwise we would be flopping around on the floor like a fish out of water.

Here are 3 top tips to help you lose the body fat you need to see them abs!

*Calories are King! The old saying you can’t out train a bad diet is constantly said because it’s a true saying! no matter what you do in your training if your eating more calories than your burning off your never going to lose the body fat your after to see them abs! You have to make sure your in a calorie deficit try tracking your food for a week or 2 if your weight stays the same it’s a good indication your in maintenance if your weight goes up your in a calorie surplus or if it goes down your in a calorie deficit then work from where you are to make sure you are in a that deficit.

* Base your training around what you enjoy! Like I said in the last point it doesn’t matter how you train if your diet is poor but if your diet is good then your training will definitely help you lose body fat faster, but the most important thing about training is adherence ie being able to stay consistent for a prolonged period of time the best way to do this is do your training plan around what you enjoy so you will stick to the plan and want to actually train ideally I would say around weights and resistance training to keep your muscle and shape! (we will talk about more specific training in a second)

* Keep protein high! Like i said earlier we want to lose body fat not body weight we don’t want to end up with the body composition of a jelly fish so to retain your muscle as much as possible keep your protein high and train with weights other wise your body may look to break down muscle tissue to use as fuel which is the last thing you want to do!

Step 2: Ab's Training!

When it comes to ab training you don't need to do an unholy amount of sit ups and crunches to build your abs!

Remember step one fat loss doing sit ups and crunches isn't going to burn the body fat you want to burn unfortunate!

Keep to compound exercises were you move multiple joints at once in turn needing more fuel (calories) so you burn more body fat! also utilise HIIT training a steady state to your advantage.

But if you've lost the body fat you need already, then doing regular abdominal exercises with the correct form (which is key) will make them more defined, but focusing on one area wont give you a full set of Abs.

You need to train all the muscles of your abdominal area which is made up of the transversus abdominis, rectus abdominis, external oblique muscles and finally the internal oblique muscles!

By selecting multiple exercises that will make sure you work all of these muscles which will help you achieve a full looking set of abs!

Those two steps don't seem to difficult, right?

That’s what makes them so great now you have the steps you need to get on track to getting your own chiselled Abs.
